Peggy Gillespie Wright

Peggy Ann Gillespie Wright, 77, of Booneville, formerly of Calhoun City departed from this life on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville, MS. She was born on December 04, 1945, in Houston, MS to the late James Walter Gillespie and Mattie Lee Pennington.

Peggy spent many seasons of her life as an insurance agent until her retirement. In her spare time, she made blankets for her grandchildren and she enjoyed cross-stitching. She was a member of East Booneville Baptist Church. Although she has departed from our presence, Peggy’s memory will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.

She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence: spouse, Bro. Ervin Ray Wright of Booneville; daughter, Laura Ann (Johnny) Wright Mize of Marco Island, FL; son, Michael Ray (Susan) Wright of Booneville; four sisters: Betty (Rayburn) Hood of Oxford; Mary (Paul) Bailey of Oxford; Anita (Billy) Voyles of Houston; Pattie (Mallard) Turner of West Point; brother, Tony Gillespie of Houston; nine grandchildren: Jonathan Mize, Tyler Mize, Macy M. Usher, Parish W. Wadkins, Macayla Wright, Reagan Wright, Samuel Wright, Christopher Wright, and Hannah Wright. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, James Walter Gillespie and Mattie Lee Pennington; son, Steven Gregg Wright.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service celebrating Peggy's life will be on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS with Bro. Steve Howell and Bro. Danny Spratlin officiating. Johnny Mize, Robert Sharp, Clyde Keith Spratlin, John Usher, Tyler Wadkins, and Samuel Wright wil carry Peggy to rest in Pinecrest Memorial Garden. Jonathan Mize, Tyler Mize, and Christopher Wright will serve as honorary pallbearers.
