Penelope Whittington

Calhoun City, MS – Penelope Whittington, 54, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford after an extended illness. She was born in Bruce on September 23, 1063 to the parents of Glenn Coomer and Mary Prewitt Tutor. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Prewitt Tutor.

She is survived by her companion and friend, Jerry Howell, Calhoun City, MS; three daughters, Sharonda Stegall “Steven”; Pontotoc, MS, Brandy Raines “Ricky”; Pontotoc, MS, Vanessa Hodgens, Bessemer, Al; a son, James McGaughflin, Pontotoc, MS; two brothers, David Coomer “Susan”, Pontotoc, MS. Terry Coomer “Betty”; Sulligent, Al; father, Glenn Coomer “Zena”, Amory, MS and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS.

A graveside service will follow Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Buckhorn Cemetery with Bro. Sonny Smith officiating.

Pallbearers will be David Coomer. Terry Coomer, Ricky Raines and Steven Stegall.
