Mrs. Penny Baker Starks, the former Postmaster of Pittsboro, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was 71.
Mrs. Starks was born January 12, 1947 to Winfred Baker and Lavonia Hardin Baker in Big Creek. She had 30 total years of service to the United States Postal Service, retiring as the Postmaster of the Pittsboro Post Office. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and cooking. As a member of Antioch Baptist Church, she was active with both the church and her church family. Mrs. Starks knew many friends and family through all of the different walks of her life, and she will be missed by all.
Mrs. Starks leaves behind her Husband of 54 years, Larry Starks of Pittsboro; Son, Scott (Julie) Starks of Pittsboro; Daughter, Angela Starks of Pittsboro; Brothers, Robert (Sarah Jo) Baker of Bruce, Billy (Rhonda) Baker of Houlka; Sister, Martha (A.B.) Ruth of Columbus, MS; Grandchildren, Heather (Stephen) Garcia, Taylor Castleberry, Karman Starks, Connor Starks; and Great-Grandson, Maverick Garcia.
There will be a visitation with the family on Monday, November 5
th
, 2018 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. There will be a funeral service celebrating Mrs. Starks’ life in the chapel of the funeral home immediately following the visitation, starting at 2:00 PM. Services will led by Brother Eric Payne.
Following funeral services, Mrs. Starks will be laid to rest in Pittsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Carr, Charlie Hill, Ben Hogan, Bill Malone, Corey Ward, and Harold Ward.
Mrs. Starks was preceded in death by her Mother and Father; Brothers, Jimmy Baker, John Baker, Junior Baker, Glen Baker and Rex Baker; and Sisters, Thelma Middleton, Dorothy Terry, Jean Cannon, Katherine Avant, Alice Spruill, and Peggy Baker.
