Listen to Obituary

Phillip Mark Taylor, 70, of Bruce passed from this life on Wednesday, July 7, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. Born on October 4, 1951, in Tallahatchie County, he was a son of the late James A. Taylor, Sr., and Marguarette Louise Melton Taylor.

Phillip was a 1969 graduate of West Tallahatchie High School. He spent many years laboring for the Stephens-Adamson Manufacturing of Clarksdale, Mississippi before punching the clock of retirement and enjoying his golden years. Phillip was a charter member of the Calhoun Avengers, Camp 1969, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and actively participated in battle reenactments. June 16, 2013, marked the day Phillip became a born-again child of God and he celebrated his love for the Lord at Faith Baptist Church. Although Phillip has departed from our lives, his treasured memory will hold a special place in the hearts of his loved ones.

Phillip leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life, two daughters: Jennifer Joy Crownover and her husband Casey Crownover of East Ridge, Tennessee; Melanie Louise Durden and her husband Chris Durden of Flintstone, Georgia; six grandchildren: Melissa, Dakota, Alana, Gage, Kaylen, and James Phillip; four sisters: Laura (Erwin) Bailey of Clarksdale, Mississippi; Thelma Barefield of Jacksonville, Florida; Angie Lea Johnston (Wendle) of Missions, Texas; Esther Smith of Shreveport, Louisiana;  one brother, James Taylor (Linda) of Bruce, Mississippi; Uncle Phil to twenty-eight nieces and nephews; uncles and aunts: Charles and Nellie Taylor of Statesville, North Carolina; Elsie Hundley of Sparta, Tennessee; Arthur and Mavis of Pelahatchie, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Taylor, Sr., and Marguarette Louise Melton Taylor.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce.
