Reba Mae Hughes Hawkins, 80, of Bruce passed from this life Sunday, February 28, 2021 at her residence. Born on July 29, 1940 in Sardis, she was a daughter to the late William Dalton Hughes and Clara Mae Owens Hughes.
Reba, affectionately known as momma Reba, spent many seasons of her life looking after the fear fully and wonderfully made residents of the group home in Bruce. Meeting a vast array of residents in her career, she loved them all and showed special favor to her girls group. Aside from her career Reba found joy in firing up her stove and turning out delicious meals. With a keen eye or cleanliness she meticulously looked after her yard and kept it in order. Although Reba has departed from our lives, her treasured memory will hold a special place in the hearts of her loved ones.
She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life; one daughter, Teresa Gay Estes and husband Tommy of Belzoni; one brother, Culley Hughes of Tupelo; one sister, Rose Callis of Oakland, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Gentry Byrd, Trey Estes, Sharon Mitchell, Paula Lewis, Morgan (Chris) Boyles, Ashley (Dave) Novak; eight great grandchildren: Owen Byrd, Nora Douglas, Lexi Mitchell, Barett Mitchell, Cade Hamby, Landon Novak, Aidan Boyles, Anna Boyles; special care giver, Sue Stepp.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents, William Dalton Hughes and Clara Mae Owens Hughes; one daughter, Sheila Lynn Lewis; one brother, Harold Hughes.
