Rebecca "Diane" Brasher Young

Rebecca "Diane" Brasher Young, age 79, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Tupelo, Mississippi. She entered this life on December 2, 1946, at the Bruce Hospital in Bruce, Mississippi, to parents Arvin Buford Brasher and Syble Myra Massey Brasher.

Diane was a member of First Baptist Church of Bruce, Mississippi, where she was also a member of the Ruth Sunday School class. Her Sunday School class was a very important part of her life.

Diane graduated from Pineville High School in 1964, before continuing her education at the University of Mississippi, where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master's degree in Education. Diane had a fulfilling career as a first-grade classroom teacher at Bruce Elementary School. She devoted 29 years of her life to the education system, she influenced many young lives during her time in the classroom. Upon her retirement, Diane cherished the time spent exploring culinary delights with her husband, Mike, as they traveled far and wide in search of the best restaurants.

Diane and Mike's love story began when they met in their third-grade class, but it was not until after high school that they began dating. They married on February 19, 1966, and their enduring love and partnership remained a cornerstone of their lives.

Diane dearly loved her family and friends, spending much time creating crafts for them for each calendar holiday she also enjoyed cross stitching. Her favorite charity was the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Diane leaves her husband of over sixty years, Mike Young, of Bruce, MS; Daughter, Reba Young (Scott) Dunn of Bruce, MS; Grandchildren, Jaden Dunn (Wes) Quisenberry of Midwest City, OK, and Jillian Dunn of Aberdeen, NC; and Great-Grandchildren, Wesley James Quisenberry, III, and Adeline Diane Quisenberry, both of Midwest City, OK; and her sister, Janet Brasher (Ronald) Jenkins of Bruce, MS, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvin Buford Brasher and Syble Myra Massey Brasher and her sister, Hilda Brasher Cline.

A funeral service in Diane's honor will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce, MS on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Bro. Darrell Logan and Dr. Ryan Reed officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 5PM - 7PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers are Brent Harrelson, Benjamin Jenkins, Jesse Jenkins, Ronald Jenkins, Joey Shaw, and Colton Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Diane's Sunday School Class - The Ruth Sunday School Class.
