Rena Mae Spratlin Hood Patterson went home to the Lord on Monday, July 07, 2014. At the time of her death, she was at home in Old Town Community, Calhoun County, MS, where she lived with her daughter, Linda White. The daughter of Wm. Joseph "Joe" and Sarah Ella {Bailey) Spratlin, Rena was raised in a Southern Baptist Christian home. She was a member of Old Town Baptist Church, Pittsboro, Ms.

At an early age, Rena accepted Christ as her Saviour. Her life reflected God's presence and guidance. Travelling by wagon, Rena helped raise money for the construction of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Calhoun County, Ms. A devoted Christian woman, she has served as a Sunday School teacher, a Children's Discipleship Leader, a Bible School teacher, a church secretary, a church hostess, and a church clerk. Her faith was practiced in all of her life.

Rena was married at the age of 16 years to Junior Hood, gave birth to their son at age 18 years, and was widowed by WWII at age 19 years. Years later, she married Wm. Claxton "Clax”
Patterson. The marriage was blessed with two daughters. They made their home and raised their three children in Calhoun County, Mississippi. Rena was a devoted wife, loving mother, excellent homemaker, accomplished seamstress, and skilled cook. With advancing years and failing health, Rena made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Don and Linda White.

Rena was preceded in death by Joe and Sarah Ella Spratlin (parents), Junior Hood {husband), Claxton Patterson {husband), Mayford Spratlin {sister), Lorine Spratlin (sister), Mable Spratlin Wright (sister), Josie Spratlin Murphree {sister), Rex Spratlin, Sr. {brother), Elmer Spratlin
{brother), and Austin Hood {great grandson).
She is survived by a sister, Marine (Charles) Clark of Starkville, a brother, E.J. {Ellen) Spratlin of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a son, Rayburn (Betty) Hood of Oxford, two daughters, Linda (Don) White and Nancy {Bobby) Cannon of Pittsboro, six grandchildren, Richard Hood of Scott City, Missouri, Haley (Gordon) Smith of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Russell Hood of Oxford, Donna
{Paul) Ingle of Calhoun City, Scott (Stephany) Cannon of Vardaman, and Melissa (Donnie) Hubbard of Big Creek, sixteen great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Chase Clements, Cody Clements, Mike Lucius, Phil Lucius, Tony Parker, Terry Spratlin, Honorary Pallbearers will be Homa Bailey, Bobby Fleming and A. D. Spratlin. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Danny Spratlin, Rev. Robert Earl Alexander, and Rev. Justin Gates.
Visitation will be 5 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, and funeral services held Thursday July 10,
2014, 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, Bruce, Ms. Burial will follow at Pittsboro Cemetery, Pittsboro, Ms. Funeral services and burial will be under the direction of Larry Parker, Parker Funeral Home, Bruce, Ms.
