Richard Johnson

Richard Matthew Johnson, 87 of Hernando, Mississippi passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Panola Medical Center in Batesville, Mississippi.

Born Tuesday, November 22, 1932 in Shaw, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Bill Cannon and the late Bessie Grey  Cannon. He was the husband of Mavis McCormick  Johnson.

Richard was known for his work as an accountant of Kellwood, where he worked for 35 years and then retired. On top of being a hard worker, Richard found time to enjoy the sport of Golf. He was an avid member of Parkway Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of family and his grandchildren.

Surviving are daughters, Shelia Sowell (Barry) of Hernando, MS and Phyllis Barnard (Jeff) of Meadow Vista, CA, brother, Bobby Cannon of Pittsboro, MS, sister, Betty Langford of Vardaman, MS, grandchildren, Brandy Smith (Jes), Matt Sowell (April), Valerie McAcy (Brendan), Monte Barnard (Gina), Devon Martinez (Carlos) and 5 great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by brothers, Billy Cannon and Charles Cannon, sister, Shirley Baker.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Mike Ramage officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, 476 hwy 9n, Bruce, Mississippi.
