Robert Covington

Robert Covington, 88, of Banner, MS, passed away on January 9, 2021, at Panola Medical Center in Batesville, MS.

Robert was born on June 13, 1932, in Banner, MS, to Doyle Benjamin and Mildred Peeples Covington. After graduation from high school Mr. Robert embarked on a career with Massey Ferguson in Memphis, TN. He began his career sweeping floors, along with other jobs within the company eventually working his way throughout the company and ultimately retiring as Parts Manager over the course of a 35 plus year career.

Robert was a member of Banner Baptist Church and was always at church every time the doors were open, until his health declined. When Mr. Robert was not working or at church he loved to hunt deer, rabbit, or squirrel but especially loved quail hunting and could often be found fishing.

Robert is survived by his wife Martha Covington of Southaven, MS, two daughters: Teresa Baker of Southaven, MS, and Kathy (Billy) Rich of Banner, MS, five grandchildren: Brad (Tamila) Baker, Brandon Baker, Brent (Amanda) Baker, Lynsey (Lee) Braggs, and Anna (Jeremy) Cresswell, sister-in-law Eva June Covington of Banner, MS,  and 12 great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Phillip Baker, brother Jack Covington, and four sisters: Joyce Allgood, Myra Covington, Jimmie Quay Jones, and Jewel Logan.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Providence Cemetery in Banner, MS, with Bro. Billy Foster officiating. Pallbearers will be:  Brad Baker, Brandon Baker, Brent Baker, Eli Braggs, Lee Braggs, Dakota Cresswell, and Jeremy Cresswell. Honorary pallbearers will be: Cameron Baker, Logan Baker, Tyler Hewitt, and Billy Rich.
