Robert James May

Robert James May 82,of Bruce peacefully passed away at his home on January 23, 2024, at the age of 82. Born in Pontotoc on April 23, 1941, to the late Dow May and Myrl Bramlett May.

James served his country with honor and bravery as a member of the United States Army. Enlisting on September 30, 1962. James found immense joy in his personal life. He was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church. James's love for animals, particularly horses, was a defining aspect of his life. He was fond of seeing children with horses, and his passion for these magnificent creatures extended far beyond his own enjoyment.

James is survived by his wife Gaye McKibben May, of Bruce, daughter, Jennifer Bullard of Bruce, brothers, David May, Roger (Laura) May, and Tim (Pam) May all of Saltillo. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jordan May, Austin Bullard, William May, and Robert May, who brought immeasurable joy and pride into his life.

James is preceded in death by his parents Dow May and Myrl Bramlett May, a son James Robert May Jr, brothers Fred May, Mike May, Tommy May, and Jerry May, a sister Teresa May, he is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that James loved dearly.

A graveside service to celebrate and honor the life of Robert James May will be held on January 26, 2024, at Bruce Cemetery, located at 474 Hwy 9N, Bruce, MS 38915 with Bro. Bobby Douglas officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 Thursday January 25, 2024 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home and from 10:00 am until service time Friday. James's nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Bruce First Baptist Church P.O. Box 535 Bruce, MS. 38915 in James's honor.
