Robert Earl Mcgregor

Robert Earl McGregor, 87, of Vardaman, MS departed from this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Baptist Calhoun in Calhoun City, MS. He was born on February 1, 1935 in Clarksdale, MS to the late Lewis McGregor and Argie Dye McGregor.

Robert Earl was a graduate of Vardaman High School Class of '55. After graduation he attended Mollar Barber College and was a self employed barber in Vardaman at McGregor's Barber Shop for 63 years until his retirement. Robert Earl was also the Calhoun County Tax Assessor/Collector for over 20 years. He married his spouse, Charlene Williams McGregor on November 16, 1958 the couple spent 63 years together until her passing in 2021. Robert Earl was an active member of Woodmen Life. Vardaman Fire Department, Vardaman Town Board, and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and Vardaman Community Center. In his spare time he could be found fishing, tinkering, spoiling his grands and great-grandchildren, and serving his community. Robert Earl was an active member of First Baptist Church Vardaman. Although Robert Earl has departed from our lives, his treasured memory will hold a special place in the hearts of his friends and loved ones.

He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: son, William Earl (Natalie) McGregor of Vardaman; daughter-in-law, Kimberly McGregor of Vardaman; sister, Mary Nell McGregor Griffin of Houston, MS; three grandchildren: Kristen Lambert, Wesley McGregor, and Christopher McGregor. Three great-grandchildren: Kamryn Lambert, Hunter McGregor, and Andrew McGregor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis McGregor and Argie Dye McGregor; wife, Charlene Williams McGregor; son, David Allan McGregor; two sisters: Rita Ann Baird and Betty Womack Weeks.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Vardaman. The funeral service honoring Robert Earl's life will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Vardaman with Bro. Jonathan Peeples and Dr. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Casey Lambert and Members of Vardaman Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Robert Earl's Sunday School Class and Vardaman Town Board of Alderman.
