Rosa Helen "Nunna” Lowrimore, 88, of Big Creek, MS, departed from this life on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Baptist Calhoun Nursing Home in Calhoun City. She was born on November 30, 1934, in Yalobusha County to the late Joseph P. Lowrimore and Ruby Alma Dixon Lowrimore.

Helen was a graduate of Coffeeville High School Class of 1952, graduating as the valedictorian of her class. She then began working at Hosiery Mill in Grenada, MS, and later worked at the Kellwood Company in Calhoun City, MS until her retirement. She was the last charter member of Mt. Nebo Methodist Church.

She leaves behind one son, David (Lisa) Poynor of Big Creek; three grandchildren: Christy (Tim) Griffin of Big Creek; Kayla Poynor of Big Creek; Emiley (Casey) Lancaster of Houston; six great-grandchildren: Taylor (Joseph) Boudreaux of Big Creek; Macie Collums of Big Creek; Lijah Griffin of Big Creek; Alyssa Sansing of Big Creek; Brenden Lancaster of Houston; Jasper Crocker of Big Creek; additional family members: Sue Martin and family, Minnie Belle Winters and family, Duane "Speck" Poynor and family, the family of Dale Poynor, the family of Bernice Poynor, and Walter Jordan of Vardaman; also special friend, Vonda Kilgore of Big Creek.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph P. Lowrimore and Ruby Alma Dixon Lowrimore; brother, MSGT US Air Force, Paul Edward Lowrimore; closest friend, Emma Nell Jordan; great-grandchild, Jo Ellen Lancaster; Dale Poynor, Bernice Poynor and Jerry Lynn Poynor.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Nebo Methodist Church in Big Creek. The service honoring Helen’s life will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Mt. Nebo Methodist Church in Big Creek with Bro. Jimmy Vance officiating. Pallbearers laying Nunna to rest in Mt. Nebo Cemetery will be Tim Griffin, Casey Lancaster, Lijah Griffin, Kyle Easley, Ronald Jordan, and Kenny Clanton, Honorary Pallbearers will be Nunna's Great-Grandchildren.
