Mr. Roy Eugene Clark, 84, departed for his eternal home on April 8, 2019 at the State of Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford. Roy graced this world with his presence on May 20, 1934, he was born to the late Tobe Eugene Clark, and Bertha Carr Clark.
Mr.Clark was a faithful member Calvary Baptist Church in Oxford. After searching for many years Roy married his sweetheart Nancy Goldman Clark on July 12, 1954 . The couple spent a timeless 64 years together abounding with three children and decades of memories.
In addition to his family life, Roy served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force at the age of 17. He had an expansive career in the Air Force for over 20 years where he fought the nation’s enemies in the Vietnam Conflict. By the time retirement came calling in 1973 he had achieved the rank of Master Sargent, and received several notable awards such as; Two Air Force Commendation awards, and One Meritorious Service Medal.
Upon retiring from the armed forces Mr.Clark enrolled in college at the University of Mississippi where he not only earned a Bachelor in Public Administration, but also a Masters of Criminal Justice. After obtaining his degrees he taught college courses and was financial advisor for over 30 years.
Roy is survived by his wife Nancy Goldman Clark, three sons; Michael Clark (Dr.Fawn Lewis) of Tulsa Oklahoma, Roy Clark (Carol Anne) of Indianola Mississippi, and Marvin Clark (Nina) of Beebe Arkansas. Four sisters, Louise Watson of Banner Mississippi; Francies Gentry of Glendola,Mississippi; Peggy Tutor of Pontotoc, Mississippi; Carol Cowsert of Banner, Mississippi.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Tobe and Bertha Clark, three brothers; Troy Clark, Dwight Clark, and Terry Clark; One sister Katie Ellison.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, 15 C.R. 207 Oxford, MS 38655. A funeral service honoring Roy’s life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 starting at 11:00 A.M with Major Caleb Clark and Rev. Wesley Hughes officiating the service at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Bruce Chapel. Following the funeral, a graveside service with military honors will take place at the Bruce Cemetery.
