Ruth Burt Cowsert

Ruth Burt Cowsert of Bruce passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Sunshine Health and Rehab following an extended illness. Mrs. Cowsert was born on January 10, 1931 in Calhoun County to parents Bill Burt and Audie McGregor Burt. She was 87.

A devoted homemaker to her family, Mrs. Burt previously worked for the Glen Slacks Garment Company in addition to helping her husband, the late Maurice Cowsert, in the upholstery business. Mrs. Cowsert, being a faithful and devoted member of Judah Church of The Lord Jesus Christ, will be missed by friends and family alike.

Mrs. Cowsert leaves behind Sons Jerry Cowsert of Randolph, Donald (Becky) Cowsert of Faulkner, and Ricky (Cindy) Cowsert of Bruce; Daughters Becky (Donnie) Coats of Houlka, and Patricia (Roy) Hughes of Bruce; 15 Grandchildren; 27 Great-Grandchildren; and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren.

There will be a visitation with the family on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Judah Church of the Lord Jesus Christ starting at 5:00 pm and concluding at 8:00 pm. On Monday, December 24, 2018 friends and family will gather Christmas Eve for a funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Cowsert at Judah Church of The Lord Jesus Christ with services beginning at 11:00 am. Brother Danny Washington will officiate funeral services, with Brother Jerry Wilson assisting.

Immediately following funeral services, Mrs. Cowsert will be laid to eternal rest in Rocky Mount Cemetery. In service to the family, Pallbearers will be Jason Austin, Justin Berry, Scott Cannon, Shane Cowsert, Richard Galloway, Jeff Lamb, and Donovan Randolph.

Mrs. Cowsert was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband Maurice Cowsert; Brothers C.D. Burt, Billy Burt, and Henry Burt; Sister Francis Galloway; and Grandson Brad Cowsert.
