Ruth Stribling Ivy

Ruth Stribling Ivy, 97, of Greenwood passed away on Sunday October 22, 2023, Greenwood Leflore County Hospital in Greenwood, MS. Ruth worked many years at BellSouth Telephone as a telephone operator and retired from Clarksdale Water and Light Department. Ms. Ruth was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.

Ruth's daughter never doubted her mother's love and she often commented that son-in-law Paul "was a keeper".  She adored grandson Brent, who she thought could do no wrong, and her great grandchildren.  She spent many days on shopping trips with daughter Beverly. She loved Christmas and went to great lengths to make sure she had just to right gift for everyone. She loved baking coconut cakes to share with family and friends. Plants and flowers were also a huge part of her life; there was nothing, even weeds that Ruth did not think were beautiful and everything she rooted would flourish under her care.

Ruth is survived by a daughter Beverly (Paul) Barrentine of Greenwood, MS; one grandson Brent (Sarah) Barrentine; five great grandchildren: Logan Barrentine, Riley Barrentine, Emma Thompson, Hannah Thompson, and Will Thompson.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Walter Stribling and Johnnie Terry Stribling; husbands John Thomas McClure and Boyd Ivy, and son John Allen McClure.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, from 10:00 AM until time of service at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Bruce Cemetery with Sid Aust, Mike Barrentine and James Daves serving as pallbearers.

Ruth was always so appreciative of everything the nursing staff would do for her and no matter how much pain she was in she would always say "Thank you."
