Sammy Arthur Brown

Sammy Arthur Brown, 80, of Bruce, departed from this life on Monday, July 31, 2023, at his home in Bruce, MS. He was born on November 24, 1942, in Wayne County Michigan to the late John M. Brown and Johnnie M. Ramage Brown.

Sammy married his wife Wanda Poteete in 1963. He was a hard worker wore many different hats. Sammy was employed by Lawrence King and was a mechanic. Sammy also worked for Memphis hardwood and flooring as well as 3K Mill and Lumber Company. When he wasn't working, Sammy enjoyed camping. He was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church.

Sammy leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: wife, Wanda Poteete Brown of Bruce; son, Ronald (Marsha) Brown of Calhoun City; daughter, Wendy (Chad) Cross of Bruce; six grandchildren: Derrick Brown, Stacey Brown, Savannah (Benjamin) Baker, Jaden Smith, Alex Cross, and Dylan Cross; three brothers: Michael Byberg, Randy Byberg, and George Kinsman; six sisters: Joanna Hough, Pepper McClain, Carlina Chandler, Wanda Williams, Karen Pilkington, and Bernadette Grenadier.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John M. Brown and Johnnie M. Ramage Brown; two brothers: Marvin Brown and Billy Carol Brown.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 04, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The service honoring Sammy's life will take place on Friday, August 04, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Kenneth Armstrong and Bro. James Taylor officiating. Frankie Burfield, Reggie Peery, Bryan Poteete, Joey Poteete, Ronnie Poteete, and Ricky Rose will carry Sammy to rest in Mt. Comfort Cemetery. Aaron Burfield, Lawrence King, and Tommy King will serve as honorary pallbearers.
