Shirley Jean Dye, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at the age of 89, in Calhoun City, Mississippi. Born on January 29, 1936, in Longview, Texas, to Arthor and Zula Clark. Shirley enriched the lives of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

A devoted member of the Big Creek Baptist Church, Shirley cherished her church family as an extension of her own. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she found joy in participating in church activities and building lasting relationships within her community.

Shirley worked as a cosmetologist for a brief period but spent the majority of her career at Kellwood and Calhoun Apparel, where her strong work ethic and dedication were evident. She was proud of the life she built and the legacy she leaves behind.

In addition to her career, Shirley had a passion for sewing, gardening, and nurturing beautiful flowers, which reflected her vibrant personality. Known for her remarkable strength, Shirley was the last surviving sibling of a large family, having had nine sisters and three brothers, all of whom have preceded her in death.

Shirley is survived by her son, Kermit Dye and daughter-in-law Teresa, along with her cherished grandchildren: Nikki Dye, Toby Dye, and Courtney Evans. Additionally, she leaves behind six great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and laughter.

A public viewing will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home on July 8, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM. Following the viewing, a funeral service will take place in the chapel at Parker Memorial Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Bro. Chris Conley officiating and Bro. Tony Lester assisting. Shirley will be laid to rest in New Albany, Mississippi on the same day at Glenfield Memorial Park.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Richie Lafayette, Mike Wohlwend, Bob Thacker, R.J. Rivera, and The Men of Big Creek Baptist Church.

As we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Shirley Jean Dye, we will remember her indomitable spirit, her laughter, and the love she shared so generously. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Kermit Dye Sr., daughter Kimberly Evans, father Arthor Clark, mother Zula Clark, and her 12 loving siblings.
