Shirley Austin Hughes

Shirley Ann Austin Hughes, 78, of Bruce departed from this life on July 6, 2020, at her home. Born on March 26, 1942, Shirley was a daughter to the late Issac Duet Austin and Cloise Mitchell Austin.

Shirley, a homemaker, dedicated her life to looking after the needs of her family. A crafty woman, Shirley found joy in the laborious task of quilting, sewing each stich with love. She collected dolls and admired the unique characteristics that each one offered. Shirley adored cultivating flowers and gazing at their radiant beauty.  Shirley did not simply pass away, she held in her soul the cure to death, a relationship with Jesus where she actively worshipped Him at Victory Baptist Church.

Shirley leaves behind a loving family to carry her precious memory in their hearts: husband, Scottie Hal Hughes; two sons: Chris Hughes of Bruce, Mississippi, and Jeff (Patricia) Hughes of Gore Springs, Mississippi; one daughter, Gloria (Teleford) Horton of Coffeeville, Mississippi; four grandchildren: Shanna Taylor of Brookland, Arkansas; Ray Schmitz III of Coffeeville, Mississippi; Brad Hughes of New Albany, Mississippi, and Brandon Hughes of Coffeeville, Mississippi; twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Issac Duet Austin and Cloise Mitchell Austin; two brothers: Delaine Austin and Jimmy Austin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at from 3:00 PM-4:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The Funeral Service remembering Shirley's life will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Kelly and Bro. David Westmoreland officiating. Donald Austin, Thomas Earl Goodson, Brad Hughes, Brandon Hughes, Brian Hughes, Cameron Hughes, Ray Schmitz III, and Randy Stapleton will carry Shirley to rest in Memory Memorial Garden
