Shirley Wilson

Shirley Elaine Wilson, 95, of Bruce passed from this life on July 16, 2020, at the Bruce Community Living Center. Born on December 18, 1924, in Calhoun County, Shirley was a daughter to the late Freddie Powell Yancy and Agnes Reed Yancy.

Shirley was a one of kind woman; she like the rest of her generation knew the value of hard work in every aspect of life. She enjoyed all things nature, especially tending to her beloved garden. Shirley found the time and had the persistent patience it took to piece together a quilt. As a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Shirley knew the Lord and His promise of eternal life.

Shirley leaves behind a loving family to carry her memory in their hearts; two sons: Pete (Ann) Wilson of Algoma, and Grady (Doris) Wilson of Bruce; three grandsons: Len Wilson, Jamie Wilson, and Christopher Wilson; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Mary Scruggs of Tupelo, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Glen Wilson; son, Billy Joe Wilson; one brother, Charles Yancy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2020, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service remembering Shirley’s life will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Pallbearers, Bobby Blount, Mike Blount, Billy Harrison, Christopher Wilson, Jamie Wilson and Hayes Wilson. Shirley will be laid to rest in the Robbs Cemetery.
