Shirley Young

Shirley Bowling Young,79, passed from this life on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at her residence in Bruce, MS.

Shirley was born on November 2, 1941, in Calhoun County MS, to her late parents William and Henretta Thompson Bowling.

Shirley married Dwayne Young and to this marriage came to 2 sons, Mark and Ron.

Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She provided for her family by working as a dental hygienist for Dr. Thomas Waits and later as a bookkeeper for Campbell Insurance Agency. In her spare time, Ms. Shirley enjoyed being an expert seamstress, she loved decorating and remodeling projects, shopping, and going out to eat. She also had a love for animals. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Shirley is survived by two sons: Mark (Melissa) Young, of Bruce, MS, and Ron (Donna) Young, of Greeneville, TN; three sister in laws: Shirley Young of Pontotoc, MS; Sandra (Jerry) Walls of Houston, MS; and Kay (Gayle) Wilson, of Pontotoc, MS; one brother in law: Gerald (Carolyn) Young of Hernando, MS; two grandchildren: Bradley Wells of Southaven, MS; and Autumn Young of Cummings, GA; one great grandchild Barron Young, and her beloved dog, Prissy.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dwayne Young, and a brother in law, Don Young.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The service for Mrs. Shirley Young will begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel with Bro. David Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Memorial Garden, Bruce, MS.
