Sonia Denise Coleman, a beloved daughter and sister, passed away at her home in Water Valley, MS, on August 10, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on September 6, 1961, in Sumter, South Carolina, Sonia's journey through life was marked by her unwavering kindness and deep love for animals.
A graduate of Bruce High School, Class of 1980, Sonia pursued her passion for animal care and became a licensed veterinary technician. Her tireless dedication to her work showcased her hardworking nature and her genuine love for the animals she cared for. Sonia was known for her spunky personality and loyalty to her friends and family.
A member of Sherman Baptist Church, Sonia found joy in her faith community. Her love for animals extended to her own cherished pets, as she often spoke of the companionship and joy they brought into her life.
Sonia is survived by her father, James Coleman of Bruce; sisters Annette C. (James R.) Haire of Pittsboro; and Camille (Mark) Gober of Bruce; along with a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love and compassion will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce, Mississippi with Bro. Johnny Holderman officiating. Prior to the service, visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Following the services Sonia will be laid to rest at Gaston Springs Cemetery in Pittsboro, MS. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Gober, Sean Gober, Benji Haire, Richie Logan, Clint Melton, and Christopher Walls. Keith Kellum will be an honorary pallbearer.

Sonia was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Elaine Taylor Holmes and brothers, Jimmy Coleman and Billy Joe Coleman.
