Sue Barlow Weeks passed away on June 30, 2026, at her home in Algoma, Mississippi, at the age of 77. Born on October 17, 1948, in Blytheville, Arkansas, Sue was a devoted educator who dedicated her career to shaping young minds within the South Pontotoc and Houlka School District.

Sue's commitment to her community extended well beyond her role as a teacher. A lifelong member of Algoma Baptist Church since 1967, she served as the church secretary and treasurer for 34 years. Her passion for service and dedication led her to become an Algoma Alderwoman in 2009; she served until her passing. She was involved with the women's night organization at the church. Her love for flowers and commitment to the church's activities brought joy to many, leaving an enduring impact on those she served.

A proud 1966 graduate of Blytheville High School, Sue earned her Bachelor's Degree from Blue Mountain College and went on to obtain her Master's Degree from the University of Mississippi.

Sue is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas Weeks; daughters, Karla (Ronnie) Robbins of Ecru, MS, Kollette (Eric) Loggins of Pontotoc, MS, and Kourtney (Barry) Mathews of Pontotoc, MS; grandchildren, Kyle Robbins, Ally Ruth Pannell, Karley (Ethan) Dyer, Koryn Mathews, and Austin Roberts; great-grandchild, Edey Dyer; sister, Audrey (Jim) Thomas; brother, Melvin (Hilda) Laster; and stepdaughters, Sarah (Gwin) Longest and Family, Tammy (Scott) Cotten and Family, Susan (Scott) Ledbetter and Family, and Joy (Marty) Griffin and Family.

The funeral services will be held at Algoma Baptist Church on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM. A public viewing will take place on Thursday, July 2 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Friday, July 3 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, prior to the service. Bro. Don Smith will officiate the service, and Jamie Jamison will deliver the eulogy. Following the service, Sue will be laid to rest at Memory Memorial Garden in Bruce, MS. Serving as pallbearers are Hayden Arant, Ethan Dyer, Cameron Keith, Cody Laster, Austin Roberts, and Kyle Robbins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Algoma Baptist Church Family Life Center C/O Jennifer Duncan 2248 Jefferson Rdw. Houlka, MS 38850 or Sanctuary Hospice House P.O. Box 2177 Tupelo, MS 38803.

Sue Barlow Weeks' dedication to her family, her faith, and her community will always be remembered, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sue was preceded in death by her father, William Melvin Laster; mother, Hilda Mae Higgins Laster; and brother, Denver Wayne Laster.
