T. A. Beckett

T. A. Beckett Jr., 85, of Bruce passed from this life on Tuesday, August 09, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Calhoun City. Born on the fall day of October 19, 1936, in Bruce, he was a son to the late Thomas A. Beckett and Vallie Burgess Beckett.

T. A. graduated from Bruce High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State. After graduating from college, he was drafted to serve in the Army during the Korean War. When the war ended T. A. came back home to run his family farm raising cattle, cotton and soybeans. During T. A.'s idle time he enjoyed reading western books and watching western movies. He also enjoyed growing tomatoes. T. A. was a member of First Baptist Church in Bruce, MS.

Those left to honor T. A.'s memory are his wife Shirley Beckett of Bruce; two daughters: Ann (John) Willis of Pittsboro; Susan (Ray) Noe of Starkville; brothers: Billy Jo Beckett of Oxford; Dwayne (Doris) Beckett of Auburn, AL; sister Jean Willis of Grenada; grandchildren: Dustin (Brenna) Willis, Nathaniel Willis, and William Willis; and great grandson Eli Willis.

T. A. is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Beckett and Vallie Beckett; brothers: Fred Beckett and James "Sport" Beckett.

The family will receive friends on Saturday August 13, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. A funeral service honoring T. A. Beckett's life will be held on Sunday, at 2:00 PM in Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Logan and Dr. Bobby Douglas officiating. Joe Beckett, Tim Beckett, Dustin Willis, Nathaniel Willis, Tommy Willis, and William Willis will carry T. A. to rest in Bruce Cemetery. T. A.'s Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
