Thomas Earl Murphree, 90 of Bruce, Mississippi passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016, surrounded by his family at his home
in Bruce, Mississippi.
Born Wednesday, July 22, 1925 in the Old Town Community near Pittsboro, MS., he was the son of the late Simm Murphree
and the late Vangie Shields Murphree.
Thomas Earl was a boiler maker in Chicago for many years, He came back home from Chicago to farm, raising cattle and hogs. He was an avid gardener until his health prevented him from gardening.
He was a member of Pittsboro First Baptist Church, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5571.
He served as a PFC in the Army from 1943 until 1945. He was a Veteran of World War II defending our country during the Battle of The Bulge, he received a Bronze Battle Star for his service.
He leaves behind his wife of 61 years Laneita Casey Murphree son, Richard Earl Murphree and wife Bobbie Sue of Pittsboro, MS, daughters, Teresa Russell and husband Mike of Pittsboro, MS and June Alford of Madison, MS, brother, John Whitt Murphree of Columbus, MS; grand children, Nikki (Jason) Patterson, Amanda Murphree, Joel (Lauren) Murphree, Blake (Taj) Alford, Karla, Murphree, Kellie Murphree, Dalton Russell, and Dustin Russell, 7 great grand children.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dudley Murphree, brothers, James Edward Murphree and Woodrow Willson Murphree, sisters, Inez Martin, Jewel Murphree, Mary Lina Bryan, Mavis Brown, Bobbie Sue Harmon and Winona Randolph.
A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiating and Dr. Buford Usry assiting. Burial will be in Old Town Cemetery, Pittsboro, MS.
Pallbearers will be: Blake Alford, Ronnie Bryant, Dakota King, Dalton Russell, Dustin Russell, Bill Malone, Joel Murphree, and Jason
Patterson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Gayle Bullard, Charles Chrestman, Matelon Chrestman, Joe Cowsert, Sput Deaton, Cliff Easley, Jimmy Franklin, Marvis Goodson, James Hardin Larry Snellings, Noel Snellings Jr., William Price Wright, and all members of the V.F.W. Post 5571
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, 476 hwy 9n, Bruce, Mississippi.
