Tommy "Peacock" Bailey, 68, departed from this life on August 20, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford, MS. He was born in Vardaman, MS, on July 18, 1953, to Clifton Bailey and Lora Lee "Sunshine" Bailey.
Tom graduated from Vardaman High School in 1973. Tom was a sweet potato farmer and in the Fall everyone looked forward to coming to his shop to choose from his huge crop of pumpkins and gourds. Tom enjoyed being outdoors. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, working in his garden, and visiting with his friends at the shop. He was also an avid Nascar racing fan. "Peacock" was an active member of Bailey Memorial Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish Tom's memory are wife Barbara Bailey, daughter Sheba Bailey, granddaughters Tori Tutor and Adrienne Myers, and great-grandson Greyson Huffman, all of Vardaman.
"Peacock" is preceded in death by his parents Clifton and Lora Lee Bailey and brother Clifton Lee Bailey, Jr.
A visitation will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce on Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The funeral service honoring "Peacock" Bailey will be held on Sunday August 22, 2021, at 5:00 PM at Bailey Memorial Methodist Church with Bro. Robert Earl Alexander, Dr. Will Dowling, and Bro. Jamie Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Bailey Memorial Methodist Church.
Tom will be laid to rest in Loyd Cemetery, Vardaman Mississippi. Bobby Cannon, Rocky Fleming, David Green, Jim Hardy, Andy Landreth, Michael Landreth, Charles Dee Mahan, and Dewayne Winter will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bailey, Roy James Bailey, Sonny Bailey, Bo Baker, Jim Dugard, James K. Hardin, Barry Hood, Chris Jackson, James Landreth, Alan Murphree, and Chris Ward.
Memorial donations can be made to Loyd Cemetery fund or Bailey Memorial Methodist Church.
