Toney “T-bird” Spratlin, 61 years old, passed away at Sumner Regional Medical Center, Gallatin, TN, on November 22, 2022, from complications following a stroke. He was born on July 2, 1961, in Bruce, MS to William Alfred Spratlin and Betty Jane Gooch Spratlin.

He was raised in the New Liberty Community near Vardaman, MS. He also attended school in Vardaman where he was known as one of the wittiest and funny students. Throughout his various careers, Toney made his work life fun and jovial with his many co-workers. He was that person that never met a stranger. He was always the life of the party. Some of his favorite sayings were “Got any fries with that shake”, “You dipping in my Kool-Aid and don’t know the flavor”, “Catch you on the flip”, and “Momma said knock you out”. In his younger days, he enjoyed a good game of pool with a hustle often having to make a hasty retreat.

T-bird was predeceased in death by his parents, Alfred Spratlin and Betty Spratlin and his sister, Debbie Williams.

He is survived by his children, LilyAnne Elizabeth Spratlin and Timothy Nathaniel Spratlin, and their mother, Angela Slayton Spratlin, of Westmoreland, TN; his brother, Ricky Spratlin (Gina) of Greenville, MS, and brother-in-law Gary Williams, of Cedar Hill, TN. He is also survived by nieces Britney Williams, Bree Spratlin Hodge, Laura Beth Iversen and nephews Kyle Williams and Seth Spratlin. Other surviving family members are Billy and Bobbie Slayton, Cherie and Marty Crowder, Jody and Angela Slayton, Joe and Candi Slayton, nieces and nephews Sara, Jack, Ben, Jaylene, and Justine. He also leaves family and friends that are too many to name.

He always said that cutting his grass was his “therapy”, but he hated having to attend every session. In recent years, he considered himself an archeologist and cherished every “artifact and rock” as evidenced by the many buckets he acquired. T-bird glowed with pride and great joy in his children Lily and Tim. He beamed as he spoke of their milestones, and accomplishments.

Visitation will be held on Saturday November 26, 2022, at New Liberty Baptist Church, 211 Co Rd 427, Vardaman, MS from 12 pm to 2 pm with services at 2 pm. Burial will be at New Liberty Cemetery. Brother Jeff Harmon will be officiating. Pallbearers will be: Luther Haire, James David Long, Leonard Woodard, Kevin Spratlin, Stacy Spratlin, Mike O'Neal, David O'Neal, and Kyle Williams. Timothy Spratlin and Clayton Apley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
