Velma Ruth Baker

Vardaman, MS- Velma “Ruth” Baker, 73, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Baptist Memorial Hospital Oxford, MS. She was born, November 12, 1944 in Denton Town, Calhoun County to the late parents of Robert Voyles and Mayford Reynold Voyles. She was a member of Vardaman Methodist Church.  Velma was a devoted homemaker she enjoyed sitting on her front porch and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a husband, Mike Baker and a sister, Linda McMahan.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Cindy Denley (Garry), Horn Lake, Stephanie Moreno (Julio), Orlando, FL; son, David E. Baker (Kandy), Houlka; Brothers, Robert Voyles, Grenada and Jerry Voyles, San Antonio, TX; sisters, Ruby Martin, Grenada, Barbara Little, Grenada, Shirley Melton, Holcomb, and Celeste Jackson, Duck Hill; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation and funeral services will be Friday, May 11, 2018 at Parker Memorial Funeral in Vardaman, MS. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. till service time at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Bro Harold Robinson will be officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dalton Baker, Devon Baker, Steve Baker, Chris Denley, Coley Denley and Peyton Edmondson. Honorary Pallbearers will be, JoJo Dauzat, Terry Dauzat, Paul Norman Edmondson, Lee Smith, Robert Earl McGreger and Charles Yancy
