Vida Mae Weir died Friday, April 7 th at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on April 6, 1938 in Bruce, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Bruce High School, and a member of First Baptist Church of Bruce.

She owned and operated Vida Fluff’s Beauty Salon. She was a devoted mother to her only son, Joe T. (Joey) Grist II (KC), of Tupelo Mississippi, who she spent a lifetime spoiling rotten! She was also the proud grandmother to two grandsons, JT and Jimmie Grist, of Tupelo, who she also spoiled as long as she could.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Selby Weir, her parents, Lonnie and Oma Mae Ward of Bruce; her brothers, QT Ward of Grenada, Leon Ward (Ann) of Bartlett, TN, Dean Ward of Grenada, MS, and James Lonnie Ward (Pauline) of Belverde, Texas; One sister, Levy Mae Naron (CL) of Vardaman. She is survived by one sister, Erma Faye Alford (Curtis – deceased) of El Reno, Oklahoma; and one brother, Johnny (Kay) Ward of Grenada, Ms.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday, April 8 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating.

Services will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 9 also at Parker Memorial with burial to follow in Memory Memorial Garden.

Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Mark Ferguson, Bobby Gordon Brown, Mike Winter, Mark Taylor and Butch Ruth. Honorary pallbearers, are her grandsons JT and Jimmie.
