Wanda Jeanette Quarles, 88, of Live Oak , Florida departed for eternity on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, Florida after battling a brief illness. Born on the Spring Day of April 16, 1933, she was a daughter to the late Dow Gill and Opal Ivy Gill.
Wanda spent many years in the sacred bounds of marriage with her late husband Nathaniel Wayne Quarles. The couple spent many decades together and gave life to four children, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and seven great- great grandchildren all wrapped in an immeasurable number of memories. While raising her family, she worked as a nurse’s assistant looking after the needs of the sick and elderly. Aside from looking after the needs of others Wanda found joy in a menagerie of crafts and sewing projects. Though she has gone to rest in a sacred place free from sickness and pains of age, Wanda will be profoundly missed by her loving family.
Wanda is survived by Lana (Sam) Makamson - daughter, of Greenwood, MS, Charlotte (Leo) Hodges - daughter, of Lakeland, Mike (Donna) Quarles - son, of Live Oak, Wanda Pierce - daughter, of Oxford, MS, Patsy Doolie - sister, of New York, NY.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Quarles. Parents Dow Gill and Opal Gill; one brother, Sonny Gill; one sister, Marie Martin.
The family will receive friends on Saturday September 4, 2021, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce MS from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service honoring her life will take place on Saturday September 4, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Will Turner officiating. Patrick Bauer, Charlie Doolie, Caleb Laster, Keith Leslie, William McCaleb, Lance Norwood, Dustin Wait, and Oliver Wait will carry Wanda to rest in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
