Willia Jane Shields

Willia “Jane” Shields went to be with the Lord at the age of 84, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at her sister’s home in Greenwood, IN. She was born December 19, 1940, in Lambert, MS.

Jane attended and graduated from Sledge High School, where she was a cheerleader and involved in many school activities. After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Northwest Mississippi Community College. She worked and retired from Sears and Roebuck Company after 30 years as a bookkeeper and accountant. Jane was a longtime faithful, dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi, where she was active in all church activities and ministry.  Jane loved singing in the church choir and worshipping the Lord through music. Jane enjoyed cooking and planning events with a holiday theme for all occasions.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents L.B. Shields and Johnie Potts Shields.

Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted sister, Sandra (Dan Lewalski) Groce, Greenwood, IN; a niece, Tanya (Anthony) Hathaway, Pittsboro, IN; a nephew, C. Scott Groce, Plainfield, IN; and great nephews, Morgan Shields Hathaway and Tony Hathaway.

A funeral honoring Jane’s life will be Saturday, March 29, 2025, beginning at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur Scott officiating. A visitation will be two hours before the service on Saturday. Jane will be laid to rest with other family members who have gone before her in Antioch Cemetery, Bruce, MS.

Jane’s family would like to thank Temple Baptist Church for the love and help through the years, for being a caring, loving, and devoted church. A special thank you to Albert and Jennie Turbyfill for being there for Jane, taking her to church at night, and assisting her to church and home safely.
