William Wayne Fugett, Sr.

William Wayne Fugett, Sr., 86, of Vardaman, MS, passed away on November 21, 2021, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.

Wayne was born on January 13, 1935, in Vardaman, MS, to late Walter G. Fugett and Winnie Vaughn Fugett.

Wayne worked as a mechanic for Van Horn Motor Company and T. A. Hamilton Motor Company for a number of years before retiring and working as a self-employed mechanic.

Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church Vardaman, but he attended Faith Bible Church for a number of years. He was a member of the Vardaman Masonic Lodge. When Wayne was not working he could be found deer hunting or fishing.

William is survived by his sons: Sonny (Nancy) Fugett of Vardaman, MS, and Martin (Angie) Fugett of Vardaman, MS; 5 grandchildren: Jonathan Fugett, Nathan Fugett, Laci Jo Fugett Long, Jessica Fugett, and Jordan Crawford; 7 great-grandchildren: Grant Fugett, Lyla Fugett, Sean Marion, Maddox Marion, Kender Marion, Marlie Jo Fugett, and Owen Crawford.

William was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Winnie Fugett; wife Peggy Mae Martin Fugett; sisters: Loree Cohea, Linda Hollingsworth, Elaine Mabus, Lyla Mitchell, and Clarice Gregg; brothers: Thomas Fugett and Edwin Fugett.

A graveside service for Wayne Fugett will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman, MS, with Bro. Johnny Cherry officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Crawford, Jonathan Fugett, Nathan Fugett, Bill Havens, David Holloway, Justin Holloway, and Doug James.
