Winnie Dee Hawks

Winnie Dee Hawks, 88, passed away on February 5, 2021, at Bruce Community Living Center after an extended illness.

Winnie Hawks was born on June 22, 1932, in Neshoba County, to Milton and Mary Lofton.

Winnie provided for her family by working first at Kellwood Garment Company, Shannon Chair Company, and lastly at Franklin Corporation. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed collecting tea pots. She loved cooking big meals on Sundays and holidays for her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church Vardaman.

Winnie was married to L. Z. Hawks and the couple had 3 children.

She is survived by: son Stacy (Melanie) Hawks of Vardaman, MS; daughters Glenda (Eddie) Kauit of Vardaman, MS; and Ann (Jeff) Cannon, of Saltillo, MS; sister Reita Baker, of Vardaman, MS; grandchildren: David Lee, Jr.; Brandon Lee; Misty Norwood; Amy Webb; Ky Norwood; Jarred Hawks; and Colin Gaskin. Great grandchildren: Larsen Lee; Allysen Lee; Anna Scott Lee; Lacy Lee; Jett Hawks; Wyatt Hawks; L. Z. Hawks; Peyton Hamilton; Adaline Gaskin; Bennett Norwood; Kaid Norwood; Dillan Webb; Kelsey Webb; Kayla Webb Logan; Jodee Wicker; Ana Cardona, Brantley Ky Norwood; and Aaleijah Norwood. Great great grandchildren: Livi Norwood; Kell Norwood; Kaycee Beth Norwood; Tripp Norwood; Eden Thornton; Lyndee Thornton; Annslynn Webb; Mason Logan; and Stella Norwood.

Winnie is preceded in death by her husband L. Z. Hawks, her parents Milton and Mary Lofton, sister Louise Gray, son-in-law Kelly Norwood, and grandson Kell Norwood.

The graveside service for Winnie Hawks will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman, MS with Bro. Jonathan Peeples officiating and David Lee, Jr. delivering the tribute and eulogy to his grandmother.
