Winston Lamar Turner, 74, of Bruce passed from this life on Thursday, February 03, 2022, at his residence. Born on January 31, 1948, in the Sarepta community, he was a son to the late James Reabon Turner and Mary Alice Shepard Turner.
Winston, better known by his friends and family as “Red” spent nearly fifty years married to his late wife Barbara Faye “Honey” Turner before her passing in April of 2021. He spent many decades of his life behind the wheel of a semi-truck. When Red was not shifting gears and hauling goods, he could be found baiting a hook and casting a line when the weather was right. He also had more relaxing hobbies that included playing checkers and dominos and watching westerns. Red believed in life after death and worshiped with his church family at Concord Baptist Church. Although he has departed from our presence, Red’s memory will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.
He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: son Wesley Brent (Kristy) Turner of Bruce and daughter Rhonda Michelle (Michael) Huffman of Bruce; ten grandchildren: Tyler (Erica) Lester, Joseph Lester, Dallas (Amy) Turner, Hope Huffman, Wayne Huffman, Cheyenne Turner, Madison (Tony) Rompon, Blake Hernandez, Braxton Hernandez, and Ryan Lohrman; and eight great grandchildren.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, James Reabon Turner and Mary Alice Shepard Turner; his wife Barbara Turner; five brothers: James Nolan “Big Red” Turner, Jimmy Derl “Tater” Turner, George Kelly Turner, Clinton Lee “Poe” Turner, and Joseph “Joe” Turner; two sisters: Johnnie Faye Wall and Mary Lynn Newsome.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service celebrating Red's life will take place on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Williamson and Bro. Jerry Smith officiating.
John Freelon, Blake Hernandez, Wayne Huffman, Brandon Lester, Catlin Lester, Joseph Lester, Tyler Lester, Dallas Turner, Ruben Lynn Turner Jr., and Randy White will carry Red to rest Concord Cemetery.
Adam Boyle, Robert Calder, Justin Gray, Braxton Hernandez, Cainan Lenard, Robert Mata, and Tony Rompon will serve as honorary pallbearers.
