Zelma Lou Hardin-Shepard

Zelma Loucille Hardin-Shepard, 96, of Vardaman, departed from this life on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born on July 09, 1927, in Vardaman to the late Zelma B. Casey and Edith Maddox Casey.

Zelma Lou was a homemaker and a mother. She spent her time looking after the needs of others and her children. In her spare time, Zelma enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and playing Rook. She enjoyed all board and card games. Zelma was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Above all, Zelma loved her family. She was a member of Water Valley Seventy-day Adventist Church.

She leaves behind her two sons: Robert Allen (Thana Pitts) Hardin of Chattanooga, TN; Ronald Casey (Chrissy) Hardin of Memphis, TN; three daughters: Catrina Grady of Chattanooga, TN; Shirley (Paul) Sirrell of England; Tonna Hardin Logan of Water Valley; brother, James Marshall Casey of Vardaman; five grandchildren: Casey Lynn Logan, Chelsea Campbell, Kari "Abbey" Hardin, Hunter Hardin, Trevor Hardin; five great-grandchildren. Zelma also leaves behind a host of cousins.

Zelma Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Zelma B. Casey and Edith Maddox Casey; husbands: Thomas Allen Hardin and Ira William Shepard; brother, Henry Porter "Son" Casey; sister, Robbie Jo Duncan; a son, Michael Dale Hardin.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman. The service honoring Zelma's life will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman with Pastor Roger Mitchell and Bro. Chris Duncan officiating. Porter Casey, James Robert Duncan, Hunter Hardin, Robert Hardin, Ronald Hardin, and Trevor Hardin will carry Zelma to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery.
